Explaining the joke/irony in a recent blog post

Given the comment I received from a reader on a recent post (about hating the “I’m-a-hard-working-taxpayer-and-you’re-a-lazy-parasite” mentality and my wishing to “line up and re-educate” those who hold such views) I feel I need to be explicit about the intended joke/irony in what I wrote.  Here goes.

(1)  While I was condemning the mentality (attitude/opinion) of those who view Occupy protesters as “lazy parasites”, the people I am referring to are condemning human beings.

(2) This attitude (condemning/despising/stereotyping human beings) is an essential element in extremist regimes (such as fascism).  People thus labelled under such regimes are then often killed (“disappeared”), tortured or, at best, sent to “re-education” camps.

(3) Those who turn a blind eye to such stereotyping (or even participate in it) are arguably on the slippery slope to supporting horrific deeds (as elegantly spelled out in this statement).

(4) Hence the joke/irony of my wishing to “line up and re-educate” those guilty of stereotyping.

Get it now? 😉
