I have just acquired the domains SynchronyBooks.com and SynchronyBooks.co.uk with the idea of publishing books under the name “Synchrony Books”. (Watch the additional commentary video in this posting to learn how I came up with the name.)
I have a couple of titles up my sleeve, the first of which will be what used to be known as Please Don’t Hurt Me by Angela Bailey. A major company cancelled the publishing contract a month before it was due to be published on the grounds that it would be too risky for them to publish, i.e. they were scared of being sued.
The manuscript has now been further modified to make it more difficult to identify the people mentioned in the book, and Angela is prepared to take the legal risk herself. The book will now appear under its original working title, Disruptive, and Angela Bailey will be changing her pen name to Angela Bayley, to further reduce the chances of her being confused with other people. The cover has been commissioned and the early drafts look very promising. We anticipate having the book out by the end of the year. Further details may be read on the Synchrony Books website.
Synchrony Books won’t be accepting unsolicited manuscripts for the foreseeable future, and I am certainly not going to be a vanity publisher.
Synchrony Books will publish books that I believe will make the world a better place. Expect to see titles that not only spell out what is wrong with the world but also offer practical solutions, books that inspire as well as entertain. Themes will be the environment, tackling inequality and empowering (especially) women.
Best wishes
Eric
