Chairing an event for writers at the EIBF on Wednesday 25 August

I am delighted to announce that I shall be chairing the “Making the Most of Your Writing” event at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Wednesday 25 August.  With speakers of the calibre and experience of Jane Smith (whose excellent blog “How Publishing Really Works” I highly recommend) and Keith Charters (of Strident Publishing), this should be invaluable for anyone serious about making it as a writer.  If I weren’t chairing this event I would certainly have got a ticket!

One of the benefits of chairing an event is that I get a free pass to other events at the EIBF, and I have already taken advantage of this to see several excellent ones.  However, I would especially like to recommend the free cabarets (“Unbound”) from 9 p.m. every evening in the spiegeltent.  You get to see topnotch writers, musicians and comedians, and, if you’re lucky, you’ll get a free dram of Highland Park whisky as well!
